From Day 4 of my Nepal experience, I learned about some of the commonly served food and watched some recipes made which are Dal Bhat and Coking Cury. I was intrigued by the fact that people in Nepal celebrate their birthday twice according to Nepal Date and the Moon Calendar. I was surprised by how similar the grocery stores are there especially the food brands and big varieties of rice. I was also surprised at the work week there being 6 days as here it is mostly Monday-Friday 9-5.

Although I had to leave early, the cooking session earlier in the day was a great experience and it was nice to see everyone in person. During the tour later in the day, it was interesting listening to the questions regarding the caste system in Nepal. What also really surprised me was that the tour guides explained that even though the income level is not high, and the employment rates are not high, there is virtually no homelessness in Nepal. The number he gave was around 99% of Nepal natives/residents were housed.
