Day 2 – Iceland

For our second day in Iceland, we were able to experience an incredible geothermal pool heated through underground thermal energy. We also learned a lot about the countries history regarding how efficient they are in sourcing their own energy through the heat from active volcanoes. On Sunday, we were able to visit the Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s most known destination. The Blue Lagoon was technically an accident, they have so much geothermal energy here than they use with water for a source of heat. The lagoon is basically their “waste” water that gets pumped from far into the ground up into the lagoon. The water is full of minerals that are incredible for our skin and bodies. This was an incredibly relaxing experience, sitting in the Icelandic sun and enjoying the warmth of the mineral water, along with silica mud face masks. So far, Iceland is an other worldly experience. What a wonderful place!
